Infrastructure Services
Services that design, develop, enhance, and maintain platforms and environments for provisioning and enabling digital services.
SCS offers design and connection services allowing NSHE customers to join and effectively leverage the statewide data network. The Network Design and Connection Service includes interconnection design support, equipment specification assistance, equipment installation and testing, IP addressing and domain name service, statewide network monitoring, troubleshooting and diagnostic support, and redundant service configurations.
SCS is Nevada’s eduroam Support Organization, authorized to register K-12, library, museum, municipal, and other education-adjacent organizations in Nevada for the eduroam secure wireless roaming service. SCS also provides eduroam advocacy and support to Nevada’s K-20 community.
SCS provides access to both the commodity Internet and the high-speed research network (Internet2) to authorized entities over the SCS Statewide network. Standard internet service includes redundant and diverse connections at throughput levels up to 20 Gbps. Research network connections are available at up to 100 Gbps.
SCS provides servers, computing resources, operations services, and managed hosting and design for NSHE institution applications and websites, including three production instances of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. This service provides a reliable, monitored, and secure computing infrastructure and features design consultation, backup management, server monitoring, and a customer alert process.
SCS offers physical data center and colocation services featuring redundant high-speed Internet connections, climate control, fire response systems, generator backup, and uninterruptible power supplies. Onsite access and security includes surveillance, extended staffing hours, and controlled, automated client access. Planned and unplanned service interruptions are managed by automated monitoring tools, published maintenance windows, and change management procedures.
SCS provides NSHE institutions a federated single sign-on (SSO) platform to allow for secure employee access to cloud-based business applications.
SCS provides Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services to NSHE institutions and non-commercial affiliates, including unlimited well-trusted certificates of various types for their respective domains.
Enterprise Application Services
Services that design, develop, enhance, and maintain business and administrative institution functions.
SCS provides PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Information System services in a shared multi-institution instance for a broad collection of academic and administrative functionality, including: Academic Advising, Admissions and Recruitment, Campus Community, Financial Aid, Student Financials, Student Records, and Student Sub-system Integrations.
SCS maintains the NSHE Workday Financial Accounting System, providing accounting, accounts payable and receivable, sponsored projects, purchasing, planning, budgeting, expenditure accounting, revenue accounting, general accounting, advanced grants management, employee travel management, extended purchasing, fixed assets, batch job scheduling, reporting, Ad Hoc querying, and other financial transaction support services.
SCS maintains the NSHE Workday Human Capital Management System that provides administrative functions for the management of more than 30,000 NSHE full-time and part-time employees. Service areas include: personnel, benefits, payroll, position control, employee self-service, web contracting, batch job scheduling, reporting, and ad hoc querying.

SCS develops, maintains, and supports data warehouses for the student information, financial, and human capital management systems. The warehouses contain data for easy reporting, trending, and institution and System-wide analysis. The data management system service includes quick access to summary and detail information and a standard path to important NSHE and institution data.
IT Professional and Project Services
Services that support administration of business functions through consultation and cooperation.
SCS negotiates and maintains NSHE-wide and multi-institution contracts and software licenses. This service includes managing vendor relationships, centrally managing agreements and contracts, coordinating payments, advocating on behalf of NSHE institutions, facilitating the NSHE Software Licensing Council, and standardizing vendor distribution and support processes.
Service Summary for Contract Management and Software Licensing
SCS manages internal and select NSHE-wide technology projects using best practices with scope-appropriate project management methods, tools, and techniques.
SCS develops, coordinates, and delivers training and learning tools for select service functions and applications, primarily Workday. Workday training services include client needs assessments, classroom and webinar training delivery, self-paced training, and training components and templates. SCS coordinates a variety of multi-institution training opportunities and assists institutions with change management.
SCS offers web and other development services to NSHE System Administration units and sponsored and collaborative programs and initiatives. Services include consultations, design, hosting, maintenance, administration, accessibility remediation support, accessibility training, essential analytics, essential site security, and web application development.
Information Security Services
Services that provide security, data integrity, and compliance.
SCS offers guidance and support in development and implementation of security policies, procedures and guidelines. In addition, SCS also coordinates internal and external audits, security and risk assessments, and provides support as requested.
SCS provides assistance with response, investigation, remediation, and prevention of security incidents and vulnerabilities.
SCS offers services in vulnerability and threat scanning and reporting for network, system, and application security.
Communication and Collaboration Services
Services that design, develop, enhance, and maintain digital communication and collaboration.
SCS offers a statewide videoconferencing system for academic and administrative meetings as well as applications in research, medicine, criminal justice, and other public functions. Videoconferencing services include conference delivery to and from NSHE and non-NSHE sites. This service features automated conference connection and disconnection, service quality monitoring, conference scheduling, site evaluations and consultations, desktop video integration options, and extended hours support.
SCS provides audio/visual production and post-production services for on-site and off-site events, including technology consultations, video and sound engineering and staffing, live streaming, recording, captioning, editing, and publication of synchronous and asynchronous NSHE-sponsored and NSHE-facilitated events.
User Services
Services that procure, develop, deploy, administer, and maintain hardware, software, and business solutions to ensure productivity and effectiveness of NSHE System Administration staff and the Board of Regents.
SCS provides NSHE System Administration with general workstation service and support, including laptop, desktop, and peripheral procurement, imaging, and configuration; workstation setup, ongoing maintenance, and repair; and equipment replacement, surplus, and secure disposal.
SCS provides NSHE System Administration with software service and support including distribution, installation, and troubleshooting of business and productivity desktop and web-based software. Applications administered and supported include telephony and collaboration software, email and calendaring software, and more.
